History of FSU
Welcome to Fayetteville State University
2015 Info. Session

Founded in 1867 as a school for black teachers.
Began awarding Bachelors degrees in Education
In 1947, renamed Fayetteville State Teachers College began receiving state and regional accreditation.
In 1963, renamed Fayetteville State College began offering majors outside of Education.
1972, presently named Fayetteville State University became a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina system.
Today
FSU serves a student body of over 6,300.
$45.5 million in campus construction and renovation campaign underway
New undergrad degrees in Biotechnology, Communications, Forensic Science, Management Information Systems, and Nursing
Altogether - 43 undergrad programs, 23 masters programs, 1 doctoral program in ed leadership.
Faculty to Student ratio of 1:16.

What are we looking for?
Minimum course requirements
- 4 years of English
- 4 years of Math (one math must be higher than Algebra II)
- 3 years of Natural Science (including a lab science)
- 2 years of Social Science (World History and US History)
- 2 years of a Foreign Language (same language)

Minimum admission requirements
- 2.5 GPA (in-state and out of state)
- 800 (cr & m-OLD)/880 (NEW) SAT or 17 ACT (in-state)
- 830 (cr & m-OLD)/910 (NEW) SAT or 17 ACT (out of state)
