Training programmes are based on a structured cycle. This is known as periodisation.
Working in pairs you must decode the diagram to discover the meaning of the periodisation training cycle.
The training cycle is split into:
– 1 year to 4 Years training cycles
– Monthly training cycles
– Weekly or individually planned training sessions

Macrocycle divided into a number of mesocyles
Medium term 4-24 weeks
The mesocycle is the main method of controlling work to rest ratios, for example if you had a rest ratioof 3:1, this means you would do three weeks working followed by one active rest week.
Each Mesocycle is divided into a number of Microcycles.
