Transcript of Pyramids of Egypt

Pyramids of Egypt Emily Morris The first pyramid was
built in 2700 B.C. Cheops Pyramid used 6 million tons of stone. That's about 12000 pounds! His pyramid is the tallest in Egypt. Cheops pyramid used yellow-gray limestone, white limestone and red granite. There are 35 major pyramids by the Nile River. Scientists believe that the shape of the pyramid has to do with religious beliefs. People hid traps in the pyramids so that pyramid robbers would have a less likely chance to steal things. The robbers often stole the gold, and destroyed the bodies. If the robber was caught, he would be sentenced to death. The shape of a pyramid has four flat sides. It also has a flat base, and a point on the top. Egyptian kings were buried inside the pyramid. Tools that Egyptians used to build pyramids were copper chisels, wooden clamps and mallets and smooth stones and plumb lines for the finish. The copper chisels were turned to bronze. The Egyptians built pyramids by dragging stone blocks up a ramp. Khufu's pyramid weights about 2 1/2 tons!
