Transcript of EASTER A1`
WHERE DID EASTER EGGS COME FROM?
Easter is a Christian festival. For Christians the custom of giving eggs at Easter celebrates new life. Christians remember that Jesus, after dying on the cross, rose from the dead. They believe that, through his resurrection, Jesus defeated death and sin and offers people the promise of eternal life if they follow his teachings.

What is Easter?
WHY IS EASTER SO IMPORTANT?
Jesus rising from the dead has nothing to do with the Easter bunny and chocolate eggs, but Easter is the most important Christian festival. It celebrates Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead, three days after he was executed by crucifixion.
After Jesus was crucified on the Friday (now known as Good Friday), his body was taken down from the cross, and buried in a cave tomb. The tomb was guarded by Roman Soldiers and an enormous stone was put over the entrance, so that no-one could steal the body.
So how did we find out that he has risen?
We have been told that Mary & Her friends bought some spices to put on Jesus' body. When they got there there was no guards and the boulder was moved. Inside sat an angel and told them that they will not find Jesus here. He told them to spread the news to the apostles. After all the other women were gone Mary Magdalene stood outside crying and then Jesus appears and asks 'who are you looking for?'. At first she doesn't know its him she thinks its a gardener and asks to bring back the body here. Then Jesus Shouts 'Mary!' and she replies 'Master!' He said not to touch him because he has not yet risen to his father.
After 40 days on earth Jesus meets up with the apostles at the sea of Tiberians at a mountain side of Galilee and tells them that he needs to go and that they must do what he has done!
