The Question The Bible A true historical document The Need People need something to believe in. Ill informed because learning about the Bible is a choice. What you believe can be a huge part of someone’s life. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Can we trust the Bible? Manuscripts Historical evidence Historical Evidence Written word, not spoken Span of time over which the Bible was written. Genesis written in 1450 B.C. Revelation written in 90 A.D. a span of years 1,500 www.allabouttruth.org Biblical Manuscripts Manuscript - "written or typewritten composition or document as distinguished from a printed copy." www.merriam-webster.com Who copied manuscripts? Jewish Scribes Scribes were trained to copy and preserve the accuracy of the holy books.
Even one mistake meant that they had to burn their copy, and start all over. www.allabouttruth.org Biblical vs. Secular Manuscripts Secular Gallic Wars- 10 copies. Two copies of Isiah were found in Qumran cave, both 1,000 years older than the Masoretic Texts, but the Dead Sea Scrolls copies were found to be 95% identical.
