Uses Yamaha Corporation’s Vocaloid 2 synthesizing technology How Miku Came To Be Her name, Hatsune Miku, when broken down means:
Was the second Vocaloid to be sold using the Vocaloid 2 engine
Her voice is sampled from Japanese voice actress Saki Fujita. Did You Know? Featured on commercials for the Toyota Corolla
Initial sales were high
In 2007 amazon.co.jp reported sales of Hatsune Miku totaling 57,000,000 yen.
Her songs are produced by fans (most are Nico Nico Douga users) they work collaboratively with other users to create videos
Her popularity has seen various references to her in anime. Rise to Fame She has over 100,000 songs using her voicebank
Albums have been released (mostly on popular songs)
A series of rhythm games called Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA have been produced by Sega using Miku and the other Crypton Vocaloids.
Performed her first “live” concert during Animelo Summer Live in 2009.
Has performed similar concerts in Singapore, Tokyo, and recently Los Angeles at Anime Expo
She also sung the original version of Nyan Cat NyanNyanNyan~! Mukashi Mukashi no kyou no boku In these “live” concerts, Miku’s image is projected by a projector onto a clear screen.
