Functions of food in the body

Nutrients are needed to allow for the growth of cells
The body needs fuel to carry out daily tasks
Carbohydrates and Fats
Regulate body processes including digestion, breathing and circulation of blood
Repair skin after being cut or grazed
Fight infection or disease
Reproduction of red and white blood cells
Write down all the food and drink you would typically consume in a day.

Using a different coloured pen, mark any foods that contain a moderate or large amount of carbohydrates.

For example pasta, grains, bread, starchy vegetables and lentils.
Now mark any protein based foods.

For example red meat, chicken or poultry, fish, eggs and tofu.
