These areas are included in the Canadian Shield:
- Ontario(I will be focusing on this area)
Ontario has all three forms of government in it, local, provincial, and federal. Ontario's provincial government is located in Toronto and the federal government is located in Ottawa.
Ontario's main sources of income come from the manufacture of automobiles and auto parts. They also have an abundance of natural resources, including various minerals, forests, hydroelectric power, and farming/ranching.
Ontario is 65% forest, 20% water and 15% urban areas. The highest point in Ontario is Ishpatina Peak at 693 metres. The climate can be unpredictable, and occasionally extreme, with hot and humid summers and cold winters.
Most of Ontario's citizens live in cities such as Toronto, Ottawa(capital of Canada), Hamilton, Oshawa, London, Thunder Bay and Windsor. More than 1 in 4 people who live in Ontario were born outside of Canada. You can find many festivals that celebrate cultures and the history of Canada, Ontario and other regions of the world.
Many different groups have lived and settled in what we now call Ontario; these include First Nations, Jesuit missionaries, the French, English, and many other immigrants and groups. Ontario has always been a place of growth, and in the upcoming years, I predict it will continue to be.

The Shield is the largest region in Canada and it covers a total area of 4.8 million square kilometres, and almost two thirds of Ontario. The Shield is a part of the North American contiental plate and the areas in it are rocky.
Ontario, like other provinces, spends its budget on things such as education, infrastructure, healthcare and almost 25% of Ontario's population work for the government.
