The employers of textile chemists include:
• Textile manufacturers
• Chemical manufacturers
• Scientific research centers
• Chemistry laboratories
• Dyeing houses
Textile chemists work 40 hours a week.
Upset and dissatisfied with their working environment, salary, and benefits
Get paid about $20 an hour with little to no benefits, and do not enjoy working in a laboratory
Taking post-secondary was a waste for the job as a chemist
Regret choosing this career path and are considering leaving it

What do Textile Chemists do?
High School Requirements
Conduct research to understand the properties of various fabrics
Collaborate with material scientists to select the materials for making textile products
Work with textile designers to develop new textile products or redesign the existing ones
Ontario Secondary School Diploma:
Grade 12 English
Grade 12 Advanced Functions
Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors
2 of the following Grade 12 courses: Biology , Chemistry , Physics -or- Earth and Space Science
1 additional Grade 12 university-level or university/college-level courses
Chances of getting into this field
The chances of getting into textile chemistry are not big, but are also not small
More in demand in larger cities like Montreal, but many of the jobs available have moved overseas
Many of the higher paying jobs in this industry can be found in countries like India, Pakistan, and Turkey
