Iran/Iraq War 1980-1988 The war strained both political and social life. The war started by border disputes, politcal differences, and religious schisms. The religious disputes was mostly between the Sunnis vs. the Shia. The war killed over 500,000 people. The war destroyed the economy and
its oil industries. Before the war began, oil prices were at
$14 per barrel, after it incresed to $35 per
barrel. Many cities were destroyed do to the bombs. The war ended the month of August in year 1988,
both Iran and Iraq economies were in shambles. The financial cost of the war was at the minimum of 200 billion dollars. The End
