Mission Statement
The mission of Fort Myers Institute of Technology is to provide high quality career and technical training, in order to prepare students for current and emerging industries, delivered by a professional and caring staff in a positive learning environment.
History
Fort Myers Institute of Technology (FMIT) was established in August of 1966, operating under the governance of the Department of Education (DOE). Throughout it's almost 50 years of operation, FMIT has graduated thousands of students, offering a wide variety of 30 different programs. Originally known as Lee County Area Vocational Technical School, and later High Tech Central in 1994, FMIT is still the go-to institute for a, "Career In a Year".
National Technical Honor Society (NTHS)
NTHS is an organization that encourages higher scholastic achievement, cultivates a desire for personal excellence, and helps top students find success in today's highly competitive workplace.
SkillsUSA
SkillsUSA is an organization for students enrolled in industrial, technical, trade and health courses in high schools, career and technical centers, and junior and community colleges.
Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)
HOSA is a national organization for secondary and post secondary career and technical education students enrolled in health science programs.
Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
Provides leadership training and reinforcing skills specific to Early Childhood Education.
