Annie Leibovitz Annie Leibovitz
was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on October 2 1942. Her family moved a lot, due to her father's job. By Austin Testerman In 1967, While studying painting at the San Francisco Art Institute, she also took night classes in photography; which she soon fell in love with. In 1970 she began doing work
for Rolling Stone magazine. She
became Rolling Stone’s chief
photographer in 1973. First assignment (cover of the January 21, 1971 issue) While Leibovitz was with Rolling Stone, she developed her trademark technique (the use of bold primary colors and surprising poses). She has made many covers of
the Rolling Stone into collector's
items. The most notable one being... In 1983, after 10 years, Annie left
Rolling Stone and began working
for Vanity Fair. She is known for her ability to make her subjects become physically involved in her work She is
considered one of America's best
portrait photographers. In most recent news
(Aug. 2009) Leibovitz has ended
