.edu=Educational Institution
Information from department or research center at the educational institution can generally be taken as credible.

Public Library Resources

Information can generally be taken as credible.

.org=Traditionally Non-Profit Organizations
Organizations such as the American Red Cross or Public Broadcasting System use this domain suffix.
Generally, the information in these types of sites is credible and unbiased.
.org=Traditionally Non-Profit Organizations
However, there are examples of organizations that strongly advocate specific points of view over others, such as the National Rifle Association. So beware!
.com=Commercial Site
Information provided by commercial interests is generally going to present a positive spin on the product it promotes. The information might not be false, but you might only be getting one piece of a larger puzzle.
