On Stranger Tides (Cont.) It has gained popularity around the 1930s and 1940s in Hollywood. The films would normally show heroic, courageous protagonists who were often male.

The very first adventure films were made in the 1910s like 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and The Spiders.

(Kevin McNally) He is Evelyn's older brother, who only wants to get rich. He is also like a thief and steals the key needed to open the Book of Amun-Ra from Rick in prison, and manages to have the same key from Imhotep through to the end. He is a bit selfish and is a bit clumsy like his sister. Beni is obsessed with wealth but has a cowardly personality he is not very trustworthy and shows selfish acts. He betrays the group when Imhotep makes him as his servant when he prays in what Imhotep recognizes as the "language of the slaves". He is one of the Pharaoh's most trusted men but is cursed and slowly killed when he is discovered for his secret affair with the Pharoah's mistress. She is the secret lover of Imhotep and the mistress of Pharaoh Seti I. She kills the pharaoh and tells Imhotep to resurrect her so they can continue their relationship before she kills herself. In 1926, an American archaeologist visit the ancient city of Hamunaptra with a couple of Cairo librarians and aspiring Egyptologists discover an ancient book and accidentally awaken a mummy from its tomb. After the mummy begins to hunt down the men who have stolen the jars from a box saying "Any and all who open the box are cursed to mutilation of their flesh if he is awakened." All scenes set in Egypt were filmed in Tunisia He was takened by Blackbeard to help him and his crew to find the Fountain of Youth. There he meets his former lover Angelica and learns she is Blackbeard's daughter. He is smart, usually improvises and is very witty. He is now a privateer in King George II's Royal Navy and plans to seek revenge on Blackbeard. He is sent to find the Fountain of Youth before the Spanish do. Later on he and Sparrow team up to go against Blackbeard. Cinematography Sound Props/Symbolism A love interest of Jack Sparrow's and claims to be Blackbeard's daughter. She constantly shows that she cares for her father's well-being but is on the edge of betraying and usually manipulating him into doing what she wants. A notorious pirate and the heartless pirate captain of the Queen Anne's Revenge. He is a master of black arts and wants to find the Fountain of Youth to escape a prophecy of his death. A very knowledgeable person and a reliable man of Sparrows. He would often provide the characters including the audience some background information.
