Upon arrival of the consolidated container at the destination, the destination agent arranges for customs formalities to transfer the consolidated container to their CFS from the carrier’s CY.
STEP 8
After transfer, the destination agent arranges for devanning; de-consolidation or unstuffing of cargo to their CFS making it available for pick-up or delivery by the individual consignees or their authorized broker.
STEP 9
Destination Agent releases Delivery Order to individual consignees/authorized broker and collects original bills of lading and or charges due on behalf of the Consolidator. Consignees may then claim their cargo in the warehouse
The international forwarder is in a position to consolidate a large part of the goods entrusted to his care into consolidated shipments, assembled according to the size of consignments and their stowage factor.
Improved use of available space enables more favourable rates to be obtained. Particularly in container, air and ocean consolidation, considerable savings may be achieved, specially for small and medium sized shippers.
