Alternative Fuel GRONEWOLD, NATHANIAL. "NATHANIAL." Energy & Environment. Inside NYTimes.com , March 11, 2011 . Web. 15 Mar 2011. http://www.nytimes.com/gwire/2011/03/11/11greenwire-alt-fuel-hopefuls-make-plays-for-oil-companies-44218.html

“While the process has yet to be shown it can work at a large scale, Joule founder Noubar Afeyan said the process can net diesel at the cost of $50 per barrel -- or $20 per barrel”
*
“Among the ideas being floated at an energy industry conference here this week: a process for converting biomass directly into crude that can be tailored to refiners' needs and using the country's new shale gas bounty to bring back blends of gasoline and methanol.”
*
“And Joule Unlimited of Cambridge, Mass., introduced potential investors here to a process they say can convert sunlight directly into diesel fuel through specially cultured microorganisms. “ Why use it, conserve it? There's not much left.... Save it! Wind is an Alternative source. How it can be made?? One way is for Turbines to rotate and collect air and turn it into electricity. There are many other ways as well, this is only one. Another Alternative source? Oil is another alternative source. It can power many things that are needed. Oil rigs are another example of an alternative source. This is and Oil Rig. Conclusion Works Cited GRONEWOLD, NATHANIAL. "NATHANIAL." Energy & Environment. Inside NYTimes.com , 11 Mar 2011 . “And Joule Unlimited of Cambridge, Mass., introduced potential investors here to a process they say can convert sunlight directly into diesel fuel through specially cultured microorganisms. “ (GRONEWOLD) Information/Facts “It takes five barrels of crude oil to produce enough gasoline (nearly 97 gal.) to power a Honda Civic from New York to California.“ (Fuels." Popular Mechanics. Hearst Communication, Inc.)
* “So how do the alternative fuels that may gradually reduce America's dependence on foreign oil stack up against the mileage and convenience of the filling-station stalwart?” (Fuels." Popular Mechanics. Hearst Communication, Inc.)
* “Out on the road, automotive engineers have a lot of work to do, and energy companies have new infrastructure to build, before very many people can drive off into a petroleum-free future.” (Fuels." Popular Mechanics. Hearst Communication, Inc.) * “Liquid hydrogen is the best alternative fuel for AAN platforms; however, further research is needed to move the hydrogen fuel technologies from prototypes to usable military hardware and to optimize power outputs from internal combustion engines (ICE's), gas turbine engines, and fuel cells. “
(Kushnir, Peter. "Distributes of Hydrogen." Hydrogen As an Alternative Fuel .)

*“Hydrogen is considered an alternative fuel for two reasons: It is renewable, and it is the most abundant element on the earth. “(Kushnir, Peter. "Distributes of Hydrogen." Hydrogen As an Alternative Fuel .)

* Hydrogen comprises more than 75 percent of the environment; so if it became a primary fuel, dependence on foreign sources of fuel would be eliminated. “(Kushnir, Peter. "Distributes of Hydrogen." Hydrogen As an Alternative Fuel .) “Bic lighters anyone? Unfortunately, it's not a renewable fuel, but we do have a goodly reserve in North America, so it's sorta domestic, but not quite. CNG has great octane (about 120) and, because it's a gas already, it burns very cleanly”(Holen, Ray. "Alternative fuel choices.")
*
“Compared to gasoline, CNG reduces exhaust emissions of carbon monoxide by 90 percent, carbon dioxide by 25 percent, and nitrogen oxides.” (Holen, Ray. "Alternative fuel choices.")
*
“Ethanol's high octane rating works against its cetane rating rendering it tricky to use in diesels.” (Holen, Ray. "Alternative fuel choices.") “The weak dollar has made it cheaper for Europe to import wood fuels to satisfy their energy needs.” (Writers, Staff. "Alternative fuel Damand boost." Energy Daily.)
*
“The majority of wood chips are sawmill byproducts used by the region"s pulp mills. “ (Writers, Staff. "Alternative fuel Damand boost." Energy Daily.)
*
“Southern forests are facing additional pressure from Europe as utilities overseas, bound by the Kyoto protocol to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, import wood chips to produce power.” (Writers, Staff. "Alternative fuel Damand boost." Energy Daily.) My thoughts about this are that we should conserve resources and keep a good supply of them. Also not to use too much of them. If we run out, they're gone ... for good. We don't have much resources left and we should conserve them, not use all of them at once. We might need them later. I also think we should find a new supply of oil and use some of that instead. Gasand oil are used for a lot of things, that's why we should conserve it.... Those are my thoughts. This chart represents how much fuel is uses in weeks. Obviously California uses the most out of them all. Florida is second in using it.... They should conserve it. Califonia uses over 3,800 gallons of fuel a day..... Florida uses exactly 2,000 a day.
