Nucleus
City cell analogy

The Nucleus, the "Control center" for all activities, contains the hereditary of the cell.
Nucleus: The City Hall
Why?
The Nucleus is like the City Hall of the City because it controls most of the city by sending out information that it needs to function.
Cell Membrane
The semipermeable membrane surrounding the cytoplasm of a cell.
Cell Membrane : City Border
Why?
The Cell Membrane is like a City border because it controls what goes in and out of the city.
Ribosomes
A minute particle consisting of RNA and associated proteins, found in large numbers in the cytoplasm of living cells. They bind messenger RNA and transfer RNA to synthesize polypeptides and proteins.
Ribosomes : Lumber Yard
The Ribosomes are like a Lumber yard because the perform protein synthesis for the nucleus.Bringing together raw ingredients such as RNA and amino acids to make proteins. The proteins are like Machinery of cell functions. Such as Plumbing and electricity which is needed in the city.
Endoplasmic Reticulum
A network of membranous tubules within the cytoplasm of a eukaryotic cell, continuous with the nuclear membrane. It usually has ribosomes attached and is involved in protein and lipid synthesis.
Endoplasmic reticulum : Delivery Van
The endoplasmic reticulum is like a delivery van because it delivers products made at the construction company to other locations in the city
Cytoplasm
The jelly­like area between the nucleus and the cell membrane is called the cytoplasm. It helps organelles move throughout the cell.
Cytoplasm : Road System
The Cytoplasm is like a road system, because it allows for movement throughout the city.
Mitochondria
An organelle found in large numbers in most cells, in which the biochemical processes of respiration and energy production occur. It has a double membrane, the inner layer being folded inward to form layers (cristae).
Mitochondria : Power Plant
The Mitochondria is like a power plant because it provides power to the different cell parts and systems, making cell possible much like how a power plant powers the city. In the power plant, the electricity (energy) is made from coal (fuel) in combustion.
Golgi apparatus
A complex of vesicles and folded membranes within the cytoplasm of most eukaryotic cells, involved in secretion and intracellular transport.
Golgi apparatus : Post office
The Golgi Apparatus is like the post office because the Golgi bodies are sorted where they need to go. Then are packaged and distributed around the cell just like a post office would with mail.
Vesicle/Vacuole
A space or vesicle within the cytoplasm of a cell, enclosed by a membrane and typically containing fluid.

Vesicle/Vacuole : Warehouse
The Vesicle/Vacuole is like a warehouse because Vesicle/Vacuole store water, food, and other things needed by the city, and the warehouse also stores materials needed by the city.
Lysosomes
The lysosomes are small round structures found in the cytoplasm. They contain digestive enzymes that break down large food particles into sugars and other simple substances.

Lysosomes : Garbage/waste disposal
The lysosome is like a waste disposal because they break down waste materials in the cell and dispose of them by digesting it inside of their memberane(by using different enzymes) so the garbage disposal would be just like the lysosome in a cell, it breaks up the food with blades, and disposes of them into waste pipes.
Chloroplast
(In green plant cells) a plastic that contains chlorophyll and in which photosynthesis takes place.
Chloroplast : Solar power plant
The Chloroplast is like Solar Power Plants because it uses the sun’s energy to produce power for the city.
