Recommend treatment, such as medication, surgery, or rehabilitation
Help patients through difficult times, such as puberty or family problems
Often communicate with social workers, family members, and other health care workers
Work Environment
$alaries
Generally, Pediaricians need to...
Handle Stress in a calm manner
Be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and patients.
Be prepared to work long hours, especially when starting out
Most average between 9 and 12 hours a day, 45 to 60 hours a week.
Constantly be studying to keep up with standard practices.
My Dream job:
Newly-certified pediatricians who find full-time employment may earn around $100,000/year
Experienced Pediatricians can make over $300,000/year
Pros:
The intellectual challenge of medicine and the problem-solving of diagnosis and treatment.
Getting to know the children and their families.
The sense of teamwork when working in a hospital setting.
Cons:
•Long working hours, the typical work day is 10 hours, but can reach up to 20-30 hours straight if you are on-call.
It can also be very tough when you have to break bad news to the family—for example, telling parents that their child has cancer.
Dealing with very sick, dying, or chronically disabled children can be emotionally tough as well.

Reflection
I think that Pediatrics is a good career match for me.
The COPs assessment recommended careers the Service Professional sector- which included pediatrician.
The CIPPs assessment did as well
Career cruising matchmaker also listed pediatrician as a recommended career

They perform regular check-ups, diagnose and treat dental problems, and maintain and improve the appearance of patients’ teeth.
Optometrists examine people’s eyes to diagnose vision problems, eye diseases, and other conditions.
Orthodontists are specialist dentists who use braces, retainers, and other devices to fix the way patients’ teeth are positioned.
Thanks for listening!
