Dominican Republic By Your Travel Agent; HAILEY TAUNTON Fashion in the Dominican Republic Sports In the Dominican Republic Language In the Dominican republic Education World famous fashion designer Oscar de la Renta was born in Dominican Republic in 1932, and became a U.S. citizen in 1971. He studied under the leading Spaniard designer Cristobal Balenciaga and then worked with the house of Lanvin in Paris. Then by 1963, de la Renta had designs carrying his own label. After establishing himself in the U.S., de la Renta opened boutiques across the country. His work blends French and Spaniard fashion with American styles Baseball is by far the most popular sport in the Dominican Republic.The country has a baseball league of six teams. The Milwaukee Brewers have a summer league here called the baseball academy. Its season usually begins in October and ends in January. After the United States, the Dominican Republic has the second-highest number of Major League Baseball (MLB) players. The population of the Dominican Republic is entirely Spanish-speaking, however; a local dialect is spoken called Dominican Spanish and it has influences from African languages and borrowed vocabularies from the Arawak language. Schools are based on a Spanish educational model, with English being taught as a secondary language in most private schools, it is also being taught in public school as well. Strawberry Jell-O Yogurt Bites Recipe 3 containers (6 ounces each) strawberry low-fat yogurt
1 package (3 ounces) Jell-O Strawberry Flavor Gelatin
8 fresh strawberries, halved

Mix yogurt and dry gelatin mix in microwaveable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 5 minutes, or until gelatin is completely dissolved, stirring every 2 minutes.

Spoon into 16 paper-lined mini muffin cups. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.

Remove from liners; top with strawberries. Primary schooling is followed by a two-year intermediate school and a four-year secondary course, after which a diploma called the bachillerato (high school diploma) is awarded.
