killing a patient to save his life

Medical center has been providing the free bracelets to citizens of Pittsburgh who do not want to go under this procedure if they end up in ER. There are some ifs exist about this procedure; such as, when doctors bring patients back to life, will patient be in vegetative life or cognitive life? and, how much brain damage will have occurred?
However, researchers are claiming that they improve the technique by experimenting it on hundreds of pigs and dogs. They also argue that more than 90 percent of trauma patients lose their lives and they want to give better odds to trauma patients. It is not fair if people only consider all the ifs, they have to balance the risks against its benefits.

I got my bachelor degree in science, so science articles and documentaries always catch my attention. I am always curious about new scientific inventions and discoveries. This article is quite interesting because it discusses about the new medical procedure that doctors will be trying on trauma patients to save their lives.
Scientists have been serving humanity and finding the new ways to improve the quality of human lives. Medicine is one of the science field where researchers invent new medicines and procedures to improve the quality of human lives.
In a simulation, doctors in Pittsburgh practice a procedure that involves draining the blood and replacing it with cold salt water. Credit University of Pittsburgh Medical Center
Patients of gunshot and stab wound loose blood very fast that put them in cardiac arrest; consequently, oxygen supply to brain cuts down. If brain does not get oxygen for 4 to 5 minutes, it starts to get damage. Even, the CPR does not work at that time because there is not enough blood circulation to revive the patient.

Researchers at the University Of Pittsburg Medical Center will try extreme hypothermia on patients who come to ER with gunshot and knife wound. Doctors think it may save their lives. In this procedure doctors will replace the blood by injecting freezing salt water through aorta. It will cool down the body temperature up to 50 degrees. By inducing hypothermia doctors hope to buy some time to mend patients’ wounds.

HYPOTHERMIA-(NOUN) the condition of having an abnormally low body temperature.
CIRCUMVENT-(VERB) find a way around
Conclusion
Thank you for viewing my presentation on killing a patient to save his life.
Even though it seems like researchers are pushing the boundaries for this procedure, I hope this research will work out, and doctors will find a way to save the lives of trauma patients.
