What is our Motivation?
Unexpected bumps or holes on road may cause more accidents.

Possible to prevent!
Objective of the Project
Designing a motion-sensitive system to detect bump and potholes on the road.

Software development on arduino and server.

Testing the system on roads.

Data analysis.
Aims of the Project
Detecting bumps and potholes those might cause accidents on roads.

Locating the bumps and holes.

Calculating the approximate size of the holes and bumps.
Why We Distinguish Bumps and Holes
Most of bumps are intentionally placed to slow down vehicles.

Potholes are mostly undesired defects.
System consists of three main parts: hardware, software and data analysis.

Hardware includes arduino, sensors and GPS modules to collect data.

Data analysis helps converting data into usable information.

Software detects bumps/holes using data analysis results and locates them.

x-y-z axis acceleration will be obtained from 3D accelerometers.

Location will be obtained from GPS Module.

LCD will show real time data.

All data will be saved in SD Card.

Connections are completed.

All electronic components work well together.

System gets accelerometer and GPS data.

An LCD Screen is added to see data directly.

System writes obtained data on SD Card and shows them on LCD Screen.

Insufficiency of Arduino, shield and sensor libraries.

Different baud rates of GPS and Sensors.

Absence of a vehicle to collect data from roads.

Just after falling a pothole, there is a bump effect that causes noise in data.
Tasks to be completed in the second semester
Device will be tested on vehicles.

Data will be transferred from SD card to Database.

An algorithm will be implemented to distinguish bumps and holes.

Detected bumps and holes will be located.

Detects only potholes.
