What is UCDC?
Every quarter, 10-11 weeks
When is the program offered?
All majors are welcome
Minimum of 90 units (juniors and seniors)
Should have completed a substantial part of upper division major courses by the time of application
3.0 GPA (Contact us if you have a 2.8-3.0)
Must be enrolled at UCSB during program
Cannot plan to graduate the quarter prior to program but you may go during your last quarter
Am I qualified?
INT 199DC (4 units, letter graded)
Weekly research seminar
20-page research paper on topic of your choice
INT 192DC (8 units, P/NP)
Internship 32-35 hours/week
Submit midterm evaluation and short paper for final
Always optional: Electives (4 units per class, letter graded)
Optional, sign up through ucdc.edu, courses change each quarter based on current events
Summer unit options (4, 6, or 8 unit options)
Registration fees/tuition remain the same as UCSB
Housing varies by quarter
$400 charged to BARC when contract signed, balance charged a couple weeks before quarter begins
Set up payment plan with BARC (ask for forms)
Airfare to and from D.C.
Estimated total: $11,021.00 - 11,566.00, which is about the same as attending UCSB and living on campus for a quarter

APPLYING FOR INTERNSHIPS
You may apply to internships before being accepted into the UCDC program
Some internships require a

Classrooms and apartments are in the UC Center
Students live in 2-bedroom apartments with 3 other students (2 per room)
Apartments are fully-furnished, including kitchen supplies and ironing board
Center features: fitness center, rec room, outdoor deck, computer lab, laundry, internet, cable TV, food cart
HOW TO APPLY
Fill out the interest form (http://www.duels.ucsb.edu/academics/forms/ucdc-student-data)
Fill out all required information (name, umail address, perm, etc.)
Submit the following:
1 Letter of Recommendation
(only for transfer or international students)
Upload to the Academic Information tab
Should be no more than 2 pages, single- or double-spaced
Personal goals and reasons for wanting to do the program
How goals relate to academic background and possible career
Type of internship you will seek (NOT a specific organization though), including a brief discussion of a research topic related to the internship
Your ability to work independently or on a team, provide examples
Upload to the Academic Information tab
Should not exceed one page
List relevant educational and work experience, skills, honors, awards

Transfer and EAP Reciprocity students who have attended UCSB fewer than 5 quarters are required to submit unofficial transcripts via email from all other colleges and universities attended
