principles and aims principles all member states must obey the charter all member states have equality countries must try to settle differences by peacefull means Countries must avoid using force or threatening to use force the UN can not interfere in the demestic affairs of any country aims to keep peace through out the world to develope friendly relations between nations to work together to help people live better lives eliminate poverty,disease, and illiteracy in the world stop environmental destruction encourage respect for each other's rights and freedoms The United Nations flag and emblem UN emblem was approved on dec. 7, 1946 the design for the flag was made on oct. 20, 1947 The olive branches symbolize peace. The world map depicts the area of concern to the UN in achieving peace and security. purpose and other info to bring all the nations of the world together working for peace respect for rights and freedoms they meet in general assembly, which is the closest thing to world parliament founded on oct. 24, 1945 currently there are 192 members U.S. headquarters rests in NY History Franklin D.
