Etienne Brule
Etienne Brule was a French explorer that came to Canada from France with Champlain.Champlain sent Brule to live with the Ouendat.Champlain hoped Brule would make good and friendly relationships with the Ouendat.Brule learned First Nations language and became a translater.When he became a translater trading was so much easier. In 1618 he was trading alone and became the first Coureurs des bois.From the Ouendat he learned how to survive the land and use water ways.
Ouendat
The Ouendat was one of the first nations group and the one that Etienne Brule came to.The Ouendat tought Etienne Brule their language and he traded with them.
French
Etienne Brule was French.Now the French live in Quebec.The French lost to the Britain in the war.
Courior des bois
Courior des bois were French.Courior des bois means the runners of the woods.
Trading
The first nations traded furs for knives tools blankets and guns.
