Transcript of Landscape Architecture

is the design of outdoor public areas, landmarks, and structures to achieve environmental, social-behavioral, or aesthetic outcomes. Landscape Architecture Color Theory Using color in a landscape can bring life and excitement to the landscape. Color can also be used in areas you want people to notice. Your color pallet will create the overall mood of the landscape A cool color pallet Keep in mind that your color pallet will change with the the seasons. Using lines in architecture can make the design of a landscape aesthetically pleasing. Lines will emphasize real and imaginary lines and play an important role in the creation of large and small places. Lines can dictate traffic patterns throughout the landscape. The path in this landscape flows with the plants around it and seems to naturally belong there. The paths in this landscape are natural landscape lines. The lines in this landscape create movement. Texture the texture of the plants or materials you use in a landscape will give the eye something to look at and make a landscape very interesting. The texture created with flowers and grasses gives you a lot of variety and a lot to look at. These are symbols used for landscapes. The stone path way and the plants surrounding it are examples of texture. Form Round tree forms are most common in plant materials. They allow easy eye movement. Vase shaped trees make for a comfortable "people space" beneath its canopy. Weeping forms lead the eye down to the ground. There should be a focal point beneath it. Pyramidal forms will draw the eye upwards. Scale can provoke feelings and make surrounding things seem larger or smaller. Scale This low scale gives you a feeling of relaxation and calmness. High scale promotes action. high scale plants are used to fill spaces and around large buildings. Absolute scale relates the comparative value of landscape elements to a fixed structure. Climate You can grow different plants in different climates therefore you will want to use plants that go with your climate. If the climate is always sunny then you will not want to use plants that require low sunlight. Etc. Wind Soil Age dry climate landscape The type of soil can cause trouble for your irrigation and plant growth. Wind has the ability to pick up and move around small amounts of dust and rocks. Over time wind can change what a landscape looks like. Line Sun
When you design a landscape you need to make sure your plants are getting the sunlight they need to grow. Too much sun and little watering could also damage your plants. Sun exposed field Dry grass Nice green grass clay soil = bad sandy soil = bad loam soil = good hot color hues tropical landscape When you plant small trees, overtime they will grow and their roots ill also grow with them. Roots can make cracks if you don't think about where you choose to put your plants. climate zones Anjelica Saldana
