How to survive in Wilderness Morteza Modares When someone gets in
trouble in the wild, there are
some solutions that can be
considered to save the life. The
most important thing that can help to survive, is to have
willing to survive. The most
effective tools is have a great
attitude when it comes to
emergency situations When there is an emergency, people usually rush
and try to do some thing as fast as they can
and thats when they waste their time and can't make
the right decision There are 8 basic wilderness survival skills
that everybody should know 1 Making a shelter A shelter can protect you from wild animals,
rough weather, and keep you safe and sound
so you can sleep in a comfortable place. For making a shleter choose a ground that... Is dry and reasonably flat
Has a comfortable distance to water and has a supply of firewood
Has building materials for shelter
Provides protection against strong winds
Is on a high elevation, so it can be easily seen by others to find you 2 Fire Making fire is one of the most important skills
It can fulfill lots of your needs Coocking food and
boiling water Keeps you warm
and dry Scare dangerous
animals Keeps the flying
insects away 3 Finding water water is one of the fundamental
human needs, people can survive only a few
days without water, but few weeks
without food! Where ever you find water
in the nature, you should purify it
by boiling it or filtering or by chemichals One of the best ways
to find water is to look
at your TOPO map which
absolutely marked the main
sources of water around U 4 *you should always have
enough water with yourself for 3 days
in case you couldn't find
any water FOOD Try eat what is available at the nature, like differenet edible plants, fruits, insects,... Edible insects are always
best second choice of
your daily meal in wilderness,
because they are full of protein and fat
and thats what you exactly need in
the wild. If you are near a river
or a lake that fishes live
there, you should move
and catch some fish. because
they are the most valuable
food sources in the nature
so make sure you have fishing
gear in your pack. The other obtions for food is
to find birds egg, making traps,
and finding fruits 5 Signaling for Help You certainly need to learn
the skills to send signals for help
in case you lost and you don't have
any radio, cellphones, or any communication devices... Different kinds of signals are Mirror in sunny days
Visual signal in a clear big area like a shore, or top of a hill
SOS signal
Fire signal SOS Navigation If you don't have compass and you
need to find the directions. You can use Sun, Moon, Stars, Wind, Trees and other plants 6 The sun rises in the east
and sets in the west 7 Finding the directions
by the Sun Wilderness first aid You should know the basics of the
wilderness first aid and know how to
apply them on people. By knowing these
techniques you can save your and other people's lifes in emergency situations Never move an
injured person who has
fallen on the ground When you see a unconscious
person you should make sure
that the breathing way is clear
so he can easily breath Place him/her on
the side ( It called
recovery position) and the last one.. 8 Predict Weather When you are in wilderness
it is very important to know
some basics of predicting weather
so you don't risk your safety Clouds An ability to read cloud formation is important
to predict the weather. They are clasified into
different types acording to their shape and height.
Some are sign of fine weather and some are not. Sky At dusk, a red sky
means that the next day
is going to be a fine dry day

At dawn, a red sky means
that the next day is going to
be a storm and windy day Now you R OK to freely go and start your wilderness journey! Thx for watching
