The Great Game of Baseball! A.K.A. America's Past Time Some History: The origins of the game trails all the way back to the 19th century. Baseball was a modified and more organized version of an early English game called rounders. In 1845, Alexander Cartwright formalized the rules and regulations of the game.
Basic Rules: There are nine defensive players on a team. There are five infiled positions including a pitcher; first base, second base, short stop, third baseman and catcher. There are three outfield positions; left field, center field and right field. The objective of the game is score more runs than the opposing team by hitting and running the bases.
