What is YouTube?
YouTube was created in February 2005 , by three former Paypal employees Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim.

How Much Content is on YouTube?
The first YouTube video was entitled Me at the zoo, and shows co-founder Jawed Karim at the San Diego Zoo uploaded on April 23, 2005.

In 2008, YouTube pulled a Aprils fools prank where every videos on the main page redirected to Rick Astley's music video "Never Gonna Give You Up", a prank known as "Rickrolling"

In November 2012, PSY's Gangnam Style was crowned the most viewed video with 1,865,610,896 views as of January 1, 2014
YouTube Stars
In 2007, YouTube decided to take advantage of it's growing popularity by offering some of it's top channels to join them, and get paid for making content. They started the YouTube partnership program that now has 30,000+ channels to date.
YouTube Partnership
YouTubers in the partner program are paid by the amount of views they get, so often they will upload on a regular basis and pays out millions of dollars a year, and thousands of partners are making six figures a year.
Pewdiepie the most subscribed channel on YouTube make roughly 1.4 - 16.3 million dollars a year, with 19,899,705 subscribers and 3,271,669,068 video views.
Using YouTube
Your YouTube account is synced with your Google account. You can subscribe to channels to get updates when they upload a new video.
Things to be Careful of When Using YouTube
There is a filter some most explicit content, but bad language in videos and comments are allowed. Also there are certain copyright filters.
