They form in areas of high elevation and have conditions that vary throughout. For example, the windward side of a mountain will be wetter than the leeward side, and a northfacing slope will be colder than a southfacing slope. Location Highland climates are found in many places. In other words, they're found at the mid-northern latitudes of 20N and 50S. Highland climates are the largest in Europe and are very influential.
