GEORGE WASHINGTON washington served as commander- in-chief in the continental army washington was the first united states president. he fought in the american revolution and many other battles that helped win the country from the british washington was born in colonial virginia. he was born on February 22, 1732, in Colonial Beach
and died on December 14, 1799,in Mount Vernon one of the most important battles washington fought was the battle of lexington and the battle of concord. the us colonies captured 53 british and killed 73.
these battles were the first millitaty engangments of the revolutionary war. washington also fought the french and indian war. the french started to expand their army in the ohio country also claimed by the
british. governor didwidie recived orders from the british to warn the french about british claims. the french refused pollitely to leave. while washington was there he met the 'half king' from the iriquois league. the indians were ready for thr french to try to attack at any moment. the governor sent washington back to protect the ohio companies. the companies were building a fort in present day pittsburgh .
before washington could reach the fort the french drove out the companies crew to build there own base there.
washington then ambushed french troops. in respond the french captured washington at fort neccesity. but washington was then released back to virginia forces.
the british and the french were both ready to fight over the place and both sent troops to the states. the war was finally declared the british wanted to expel french forces out of ohio country. the french and their indian allies ambushed braddock who was mortaly wounded in the Battle of the Monongahela..
after suffering devastating casualties the british retreated. washington rode his horse across the battelfield to find the very organised retreat. didwidie rewarded washington in 1755 as colonel of virginia regiment. washington opposed the 1765 stamp act, the first direct tax on the colonies. washington told the people to boycott every english goods until they stopped taxing them. when washington opposed ,the british got really mad at the colonists. one day the colonists started harrasing the british and got into a argument that's when one of the british hit a colonist in the head with the butt of his gun, and one accidently fired in the crowd.cople people got wounded and 2 killed. people called this the boston massacre.
