The Office of Instructional Development The OID supports the academic mission of the college by promoting effective, high quality instruction through a range of teacher support services and evaluation activities. The OID develops competencies in new and emerging educational approaches, like inquiry- and problem-based learning. The OID participates in educational research initiatives by collaborating with universities and other external partners. The OID contributes to curriculum alignment across the educational system. The OID provides support to faculty, chairs, coordinators, departments, and programs on a broad range of topics related to instructional development. The OID works closely with faculty to identify and provide resources to help meet their professional development goals and requirements. The OID helps faculty initiate their own research, join a team of Dawson researchers or collaborate with researchers from partner institutions. The OID helps find annual funding for professional development for all faculty members. Helping faculty get started with Course Management Systems, like Moodle and Léa. The OID helps faculty with Course Management Systems, like Moodle and Léa. The OID introduces new pedagogical strategies for educational technology. The OID funds extracurricular projects that involve direct student participation. The OID takes a creative approach to reinforcing student skills and knowledge in a discipline or program.
