Role in the novel
Sodapop Curtis plays the role of the happy, go- lucky older brother to Ponyboy. Soda is a dropout from high school and works full time at the gas station. He is very friendly to all but loves a good fight. Soda deeply cares about his family, since it is all they have left. Sodapop is always grinning so much himself, he can always make someone else smile, no matter the situation.
