The principle of Operation of the WIRELESS ELECTRONIC NOTICE BOARD is mainly depends upon the following functions:
Whatever the message is to be displayed is given to the Wi-Fi module using web browser through PC or cell phones.
The Wi-Fi module receive message and send it to arduino controller.
The arduino controller reads the corresponding letter type with the help of Rx pin.
The program for selecting the rows and column is written in the C language is stored in arduino controller.
Then arduino Tx & Rx pins corresponds to Rx & Tx pins of Wi-Fi module respectively through which its shows message on dot matrix display.
When power is switched on LOGO will display,
when * is pressed,you see a message
on Enter password on your cellphone,pc or
WIRELESS ELECTRONIC MESSAGE BOARD
Now a day’s every advertisement is going to be digital. The big shops and shopping centers are using the digital moving displays now. The MOVING MESSAGE DISPLAY is use in school, college campus, universities, hospital and industries to scroll different events and important notices.
The aim of this project is to develop a wireless notice board that will be used at the faculty in order to display latest information.So we are designing a new display system which can access remotely, we are using the Wi-Fi technology, if the user wants to display some message, they will send the messages from mobile (i.e. wireless) or from their PC , the module (Wi-Fi router) in the display system will receive the message and update the display according to the message.
This WIRELESS NOTICE BOARD PROJECT mainly allow the user to type any alphanumeric message through air interface by the use of Wi-Fi module and see it displayed through an array of RED LED MATRIX. The data will be processed by the ARDUINO CONTROLLER. The data will be displayed on the LED DOT MATRIX
The circuit design is the main step in design of any project. In this project we use EAGLE software to design schematic diagram and PCB layout.
PCB LAY OUT
PCB design is done in CADSOFT EAGLE. CADSOFT EAGLE is the software used for designing of the PCB. In this software first we design the circuit diagram. The PCB layout is given as below

Installing the Components
ICS, capacitors, regulators and resistors are solded. In soldering of adjacent pins of IC or connectors are not to be shorted.
First of all we test the soldring of whole board.is it there any short circuit ,then power supply test and finally one by one all ics are tested.
After completing above steps we move on towards the software part of project.

Connecting wifi modul for wireless communication
For wireless communicaton ,we used Wi-Fi module. This module have many advantages
The devices that are used to drive the rows and columns in the display are latches and decoders. Latch is used as column selector and decoder is used as rows selector.
In School,Collages and Universities to display students results,events and imported notices
In Hotels to display welcome notes and costs of all items
In Banks to display special offers, new plans and various services of them
In Airports to display arrival and departure timings of planes, and special attention messages
In Railway stations to display platform numbers, arrival and departure timings of trains, and special attention messages
The message to be displayed can be changed as often we need, by using PC or Cell Phones.
The cable is not necessary in between transmitter and receiver. So the receiver can be placed anywhere in the particular range from the transmitter.
Capital alphabets (A-Z), Small alphabets (a-z), numbers (0-9) and special character can be displayed
A lot of interaction and information sharing.
No printing and photocopying costs.
No manual efforts.
Saves Tme ,Energy and finallly Environment.
There should be a power supply board at the location of receiver.
The receiver may be affected by the noise in noisy areas.
This can not be used for longer distances.
As there is a rapid growth in electronics, moving message displays replaces the present days advertising methods like banners, wall posters…etc.
By using GSM module we will change message from home,office and any where in the country and by using LAND we can send data from any where in the world.
By using external memory we can display more characters by writing code for more no. of characters.
no. of characters that are displayed can be increased by using more no. of LED matrix and decoders
Difficulties faced and steps taken
First we were using PROTUES software for PCB designing but the PCB printing machine was not working on PROTUES so we use CADSOFT EAGLE for designing schematic diagram and PCB design.
The EAGLE library does not have smd package of ULN2803 IC and it also does not have library of LED DOT MATRICES, so we design our own library for these components with the help of data sheet.
We faced the problem when we run program because some route were broken, we troubleshoot them and finally solved the problem.
We make another daughter PCB board for Wi-Fi module after completing the whole hardware work.
Wi-Fi module is very sensitive device, few amount of excess voltage burn this device, so we also face this problem.
Beside these we faced many problems but finally we got solution with the help of teachers specially our supervisor Sir Abid Hussain (Dept: Applied Physics “University Of Karachi”)
The arduino Uno is the core element of this project, The Arduino Uno is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328. It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz ceramic resonator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started.
