Surfgrass Surfgrass Location the intertidal zone is where air, earth, and land interact. It is a zone between high tide and low tide where an abundance of marine life thrives. Unfortunately, it's a place where changes to the climate or human impact make their greatest impact. •Upper intertidal zone - covered by water during high tide so it experiences dry periods daily.
•Spray zone - the "desert" of the intertidal zone, this area survives on the mist and spray of the ocean •Lower intertidal zone - dry only during the lowest tides and contains the highest biodiversity within the intertidal zone. •Middle intertidal zone - regularly covered with sea water. Solution Characteristics The intertidal zone is characterized by a great deal of water movement, which can range from gentle to quite violent, depending on the weather conditions affecting the tide Problems The main problem is the harsh conditions form the waves crashing into the rocks, other problems is the tides. there are no solutions Green Algea Green algae is found in various areas of the intertidal zone, including the low-tide zone. While algae lack typical plant elements such as stems, roots, and leaves, these organisms survive in this harsh environment because of their holdfasts, or root-like structures. There are many different types of green algae, including sea lettuce and gutweed. Horseshoe Crab Horseshoe crabs are arthropods that live primarily in and around shallow ocean waters on soft sandy or muddy bottoms. They will occasionally come on shore for mating
