Transcript of Tobacco

During the 17th and 18th century tobacco spread across Europe
The People of England thought the potato was poisonous, and thought tobacco was wonderful, and the discovery of the century
King James l of England was the first to Tax Tobacco while King Louis XlV was the first to distribute it

Tobacco was grown mostly in America and Was a Cash Crop
Pipes started in the 17th century in England
Farmers in America would have a small house, and a barn, the barn was used to put all tobacco in to dry for selling
In the 17th century tobacco comes into use as "country money", or "country pay", where you would pay with, and trade with
After the tobacco dried they would fill a hogshead, or a barrel, with at least 1000 pounds of tobacco
Growing tobacco was tough because it would take almost a year to grow!
