Application of Co-operative Values Accessing the WC Index Working towards the incorporation of a co-operative which will own and manage the tool.
Access will be through a modestly price licensing fee to cover the costs of further development and administration.
Licensee provides permission to aggregate data (without identifying information) for research purposes. Demographic analysis Co-op Index report also contains demographic analysis showing the differences in the number of positive responses to particular questions by gender, age, position in the co-op, location and other demographic factors.
This breakdown allows the co-op members to analyse some of the causes of particular trends in responses to the questionnaire. Adherence to Co-operative Principles Co-operative values The 10 Co-operative Values

Caring for others Detailed analysis Each of the dimensions is broken down to show the questions included in the dimension, and percentage of positive and negative responses. The Co-op Index Report Organizational Maturity Index (OMI) provides a guide to the extent to which the co-op embodies the key features of successful worker co-operatives. It is an indication of the maturity of the organization, its processes, and its relations.
Organizational trust index (OTI) provides an assessment of the comfort and security people feel within the Co-op.
Co-operative values and Co-operative principles indices (CVI and PVI) provides a measure of co-operative maturity and indicates the extent to which values and principles are applied in the organization. Participation Triangle Underlying Assumptions Although worker co-ops are very diverse they share key “ideal characteristics” which can guide interventions.
The condition of the organization is reflected in the convictions and attitudes of the workers and these may be diagnosed by questionnaires.
Co-op documents such as incorporation papers, bylaws, strategic plans etc. and key informant interviews contribute to understanding the context to interpret the questionnaires Underlying Assumptions All humans are free, regardless of what they are told to do, or what they seem to do.

Social Transformation The Co-op Index Report The Co-op index report is based on the responses to an online questionnaire by co-operative members and employees.
Once the members and employees complete their surveys, the co-operative will receive a diagnostic report.
The report contains four indices:
Organizational Maturity Index (OMI)
Organizational Trust Index (OTI)
Co-operative Values Index (CVI)
Co-operative Principles Index (CPI) Development Process Described the characteristics of the ‘ideal worker cooperative’ using a cognitive mapping process.
Developed questionnaire based upon the characteristics.
Mapped questions to the Co-op Principles and Values and organizational dimensions.

Illustration of a Dimension The General Picture Personal Attitudes and Actions category includes 4 individual personal dimensions - Participatory Knowledge, Ownership, Process Improvement and Responsibility.
The Outcomes – Individual, Organizational and Social include 9 dimensions -Identification, Satisfaction, Self-realization; Independence, Viability, Products and services; Co-operation with other co-operatives , Care for Community and Care for the Environment.
The calculations are based upon the percentage of positive answers for all collected survey responses. Organizational Maturity and Trust Organizational Climate Personal Attitudes and Actions Outcomes Organizational Systems The General Picture Next in the Report is the General Picture diagram that provides a snapshot of all the questionnaire results, organized in four general categories and thirty dimensions.
Organizational Systems category includes 9 dimensions- Communication Systems, Transparency, Feedback Systems, Development of co-op members, Remuneration, Innovations, Personnel Policies, Processes, and Strategies.
Organizational Climate category contains the indicators of the general tone and mood between members and employees within the co-op. They include 8 dimensions- Mutual Respect, Leader competence, Trust in leadership, Trust in co-workers, Participatory management style, Relations with Co-workers, and Fun.
