Air and Space Museum Why is it the best spot to go and see? One of the reasons it is the best site is the history that it contains. Some of the history is: Mercury Friendship 7 (Spacecraft), Apollo 11 (Spacecraft), the first aircraft to fly across the world (Chicago), X-15 (Rocket plane), space suits (worn by someone on Apollo 15) and Star Trek production model. What significance does this site have? To teach history that happened a long time ago. To teach history like: Apollo 11(that carried the first men to the moon) that happened in 1969, Chicago( the first plane that flew around the world) that happened back in 1924. The museum was made to teach and reteach history throughout the years. The museum was established in 1946 in Washington D.C. The museum gets an average of 9,000,000 visitors annually. This museum holds the largest collection of historical aircraft in the world. All space crafts on display are originals or back ups to the originals. What to do there. 1.Tours of the aircraft. 2.Experiment station 3. Story time 4. Show and simulators 5. Watch demonstrations 6.
