Transcript of PetSmart by:Stephanie Ebert

Jim and Janice Dougherty came up with an idea to open a pet superstore in 1986. In 1987, the first 2 stores were located in Arizona, and they were called PetFood Warehouse. In 1988, they started holding adoption events and sold their first dog sweater. Later on, they started selling fish and had veterinarian services in the store, and doggy hotels too! Store Layout The store layout in the South County location is very convenient, when you walk in the door the fish and fish tank supplies are on your right. The cats that are available for adoption are on your left, on the other side of the registers. Directly in front of you are the small pets, reptiles, and birds. All the needs for those pets and cats are on shelves to the right. All the dog supplies and food are on shelves to the left. The grooming section is in the back-left of the store, along with the Banfield veterinarian service which is the middle-back, and the restrooms are on the right of the vet office. The front of the store is very inviting; it is all windows with posters and sales offers that they change often. There is one automatic door. The store is very welcoming to people and their pets. It is very bright and smells normal.Customers can easily get help, there are workers all around to assist you. There are 4 checkout lines, 2 of them are usually open and there are never long lines. They are very user friendly and they give your dogs treats. The different departments in the store are dogs, cats, reptiles, fish, birds, and small pets. Petsmart has more than 1,172 stores in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Their average profit per year was 5.7 billion. History The End!
