Abigail Yaldo, Taya Angelakos. Touching Spirit Bear Why We Chose The Songs We chose titanium because in the lyrics it says"nothing to lose" and in the book nobody really loves Cole in the beginning and he has nothing to lose so he is careless as well as reckless. Also in the lyrics it says "you shoot me down but I won't fall" Cole is constantly shot down by his father but yet he keeps on going even if he does not take out his anger in a good way. Titanium Bleeding out in the song "Don't You Worry Child" by Swedish House Mafia the lyrics at the chorus mention how heaven has a plan for him, "Don't you worry, don't you worry, child. See heaven's got a plan for you. Don't you worry, don't you worry now." And when Cole was getting hurt by the bear, heaven gave Cole a second chance by keeping him alive. Another lyric is "Upon the hill across the blue lake. I still remember how it all changed." This relates because on the island there was a lake that Cole tried to leave the island by swimming in it.Also with everyday that he sat in the lakes water he changed a little each time. When he beat up Peter he got in trouble, then he went to the island and that is when his whole life changed the most because after that, Cole was nice and did not beat people up anymore. We Chose the songs that we did because we believed that they described Cole in the way he acted, as well as his feelings. Don't You Worry Child In the book "Touching Spirit Bear" after Cole is attacked by the spirit bear which causes many injuries, and also much bleeding. He takes all the pain in like it said in the song, "And I close my eyes, and I take it in, and I’m bleeding out." Because of Cole being different in a way after the attack the lyrics also mention, "When the sky turns gray, and everything is screaming." This line relates because of how Cole worried about the baby birds up in the nest when the storm came, showing us a way he changed due to the attack. We chose the song Bleeding out by Imagine Dragons because of its strong lyrics and how much it relates to Cole after he was hurt. Some Nights Some Nights "Well, some nights I wish that this all would end, 'Cause I could use some friends for a change." This is a line from the song Some Nights by FUN.Cole relates to this because in the beginning of the book and even on some parts later on, on the island Cole has nobody and he wishes that he did. Also when Cole was on the island he started accepting that he might die and he wished that his time on the island could just end. In The End Towards the end of the book Cole's view on things changes and he becomes more open about his feelings and learns how to control his anger. In our presentation we tried to capture how Cole felt throughout the book. Cole attacks the spirit bear with a spear
