Multiplying Fractions

"Multiplying fractions: no big problem,
Top times top over bottom times bottom.
"And don't forget to simplify,
Before it's time to say goodbye"
2. What does 8/17 - 2/3 =?
3. Name 3 different professions, besides a mathematics teacher, that works with fractions in their everyday career?
Question 1:
1/8 + 7/9 =?
Find a common denominator.
Which is 72 because 8 x 9 = 72.
Multiply each fraction's denominator so that it equals 72. (Remember what you do to the denominator you also do to the numerator)
The problem now is 9/72 + 56/72 =?
Add the numerators together, but keep the same denominator.
The answer is 65/72
Question 2:
8/17 - 2/3 =?
Find a common denominator.
Which is 51 because 17 x 3 =51.
Multiply each fraction's denominator so that it equals 51. (Remember what you do to the denominator you also do to the numerator)
The problem is now 24/51 - 34/51 =?
Subtract the numerators, but keep the denominator.
The answer is -10/51
Step 2: Multiply the denominators!
Step 3: Simply!!!
Ex: 4/9 x 1/3 =?
Step 1: 4x1 =
4
Step: 2: 9 x 3 =
27
