Transcript of The Bible Our Guide

We must trust the Bible "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." (2 Timothy 3:16)

"For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." (2 Peter 1:21) True faith must be founded on belief in a fully inspired Bible. We must admit we are dying sinful creatures. "Dust you are, and to dust you shall return." (Genesis 3:19)

"For what is your life? It is even a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away." (James 4:14) The Bible offers escape from death. The Bible Death Reward Our reward will be on the earth. "But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace." (Psalm 37:11; Matthew 5:5)

"The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's; but the earth he has given to the children of men. (Psalm 115:16)

"No man has ascended to heaven but he who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven." (John 3:13) The Grave Death is the total cessation of life "For in death there is no remembrance of you; in the grave who will give you thanks?" (Psalm 6:5)

"David, that is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day . . . For David did not ascend into the heavens." (Acts 2:29,34)

"And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable." (1 Corinthians 15:17-19) In the Bible the word for"grave" and "hell" is the same. Return of Christ We should be looking for his return. "This same Jesus, who is taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw him go into heaven." (Acts 1:11)

"And that (God) may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before." (Acts 3:20)

"For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God." (1 Thessalonians 4:16) Only when he returns will he complete his work. Jesus the King Jesus will be King over the whole earth. "He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. And he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there will be no end." (Luke 1:32,33)

"And in that day his feet will stand on the mount of Olives ... And the LORD shall be king over all the earth. In that day it shall be -- 'The LORD is one', and his name one." (Zechariah 14:4,9) Worldwide
Kingdom of God God's everlasting kingdom will encompass the Earth. "And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." (Daniel 2:44)

"The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign for ever and ever ... We give you thanks, O Lord God Almighty, the one who is and who was and who is to come, because you have taken your great power and reigned." (Revelation 11:15,17)

"There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out." (Luke 13:28) The source of sin We are tempted by our own lusts and not buy a supernatural devil. "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked." (Jeremiah 17:9)

"But each one is tempted when he is drawn away of his own desires, and enticed." (James 1:14)

"For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man." (Mark 7:21-23) God - the Creator
The Holy Spirit - the power of God
Jesus Christ - the Son of God God Jesus acknowledged the supremacy of his Father "There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." (1 Timothy 2:5)

"My Father is greater than I." (John 14:28)

"The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do." (John 5:19)

"If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love." (John 15:10)

"Nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done." (Luke 22:42) Faith in Jesus "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

"For if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins." (John 8:24)

"But without faith it is impossible to please him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11:6) We must believe and have faith that Jesus can saved us from sin and death. Take up the cross We should crucify our old lives and follow Jesus. "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." (Matthew 16:24)

"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

"And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires."

"God forbid that I should glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world"
(Galatians 2:20; 5:24; 6:14) True baptism We must demonstrate our faith
by being baptised. "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." (Mark 16:16)

"Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." (John 3:5)

"Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins . . . Then those who gladly received his word were baptized . . . and they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers." (Acts 2:38,41,42)

"As many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death. Therefore we were buried with him through baptism into death." (Romans 6:3,4) The Christian Life We must follow his example, keep his commandments and remember his sacrifice "Do not love the world or the things in the world . . . For all that is in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - is not of the Father but is of the world." (1 John 2:15-16)

"For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which he was betrayed took bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, Take, eat, this is my body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of me. In the same manner he also took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till he comes." (1 Corinthians 11:23-26) Resurrection and judgement One day we will be judged by Christ "For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad." (2 Corinthians 5:10)

"And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt." (Daniel 12:2)

"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. All nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And he will set the sheep on his right hand, and the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right hand, Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world . . . Then he will also say to those on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels." (Matthew 25:31-41) The glorious end If we follow Christ we can look forward to everlasting life in a world perfected by Christ. "But truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD." (Numbers 14:21)

"They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea." (Isaiah 11:9)

"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. (Habakkuk 2:14)

"Then comes the end, when he (Christ) delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when he puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign till he has put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that will be destroyed is death." (1 Corinthians 15:24-26) The Bible Our Guide Three SEPARATE entities
