The Meaning of Power
Power is the capacity of a person, team, or organization to influence others.

Power is a person’s ability to get something done the way the person wants it done.

People have power they don’t use and may not know they possess.

Power requires one person’s perception of dependence on another person.

Why does having power matter?
With power you can…
Acquire early information about decisions and policy shifts.
Get fast access to decision makers.
Maintain regular, frequent contact with decision makers.

In an organization…

Essential for smooth functioning of any organization (Employees need to be channeled and coordinated in particular ways to achieve the organizational objectives).
