The Cave Design of the Cave Prisoners were chained since birth and unable to move their heads
Fire at the back of the cave
Walkway between fire and prisoners held figures of men and animals made of wood, stone and other materials
Shadows and sounds were projected from behind the prisoners
Prisoners talked amongst each other and guessed what each object was Release from the cave Suppose that a prisoner is freed
If they looked at the fire,would they be blinded by the light and try to turn away?
If they saw the objects would they recognize them? Would the shadows seem more real than the objects?
What if somebody dragged him outside the cave? Would the man be angry at them for doing so?
Would the sunlight outside blind the man making him unable to see the truth momentarily? Transition to enlightenment Predicted the man would become accustomed to the light and eventually see more.
The man would be enlightened and would derive the sun was the source of the seasons, life on earth, and the good. Return to the cave If the man was dragged back into the cave:
Would he feel sorry for them and their wisdom?
Would he feel removed from their ability to guess the correct object?
Would he be rather bad at the game in the darkness?
Would the prisoners feel as though his eyes have been corrupted?
If the released individual tried to release the prisoners and take them outside, would they not try to kill him? “Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real?
