By Destinee Beck
Scientific name: Grimpoteuthis Bathynectes
(North Atlantic Ocean, the South Atlantic Ocean, the North Pacific Ocean, the South Pacific Ocean, the Arctic Ocean, Indian Ocean, and the Antarctic Ocean)
They live from 400 to 4,800 meters below sea level.

They live in all 7 oceans of the world.
A cool fact about a Dumbo Octopus is that it does not chew its food and it has no teeth. The Dumbo Octopus catches its prey by wrapping its tentacles around its prey and strangling it. Then the Octopus swallows it whole.
The Dumbo octopus is not considered endangered.

I chose to do this organism because i think that this is a really cool creature. The Dumbo octopus is a very unique animal. One thing that i thought was really cool about the Dumbo octopus is that it got it's name from the Disney character Dumbo.
Why I chose this organism

The octopus can flush the transparent layer of it's skin at will.
The largest Dumbo octopus ever recorded was 6 feet in length and weighed 13 pounds, although the normal size for the various species is thought to be smaller.
The Dumbo octopus swims by moving it's ear-like fins.
It can also move it's 8 arms or shoot water through it's funnels to propel itself along.
That means it can swim really fast if it wants to.
The dumbo octopus has very poor eyesight because they live so deep underwater that they do not need to see very well.
They weigh anywhere under 13lbs.
This is how deep the dumbo octopus lives.
Generally, the males and females live to be about 3-5 years old.
Females lay thousands or eggs constantly.
Their incubation period is 2 to 10 months.
The mother doesn't go out to eat until the eggs hatch, and once the eggs hatch, the female dies.
