OBESITY MEDICAL TERM Obesity is the common term used to describe adults and children that are overweight. The word obesity comes from the latin word "obesitas" which mean plump, stout or fat. The common name for this disease is: Causes of obesity: Obesity is caused by a lack of energy or exercise. Obesity is also caused by an unbalanced food diet. How is obesity transmitted? You can inherit a weight problem from a family member which can lead you to obesity. Also, being around a person who is overweight and is providing you an unhealthy environment can cause you to become obese. Obesity is a non-communicable disease. A non-communicable disease is a disease which is not contagious. How many people get this disease per year? In every state, obesity is spread all over. Over 2/3 of US adults are overweight each year on average. Adults who have a BMI of 30 or higher are considered obese. 111,909 to 365,000 people die each year in the United States from obesity. America has spent an incredible amount of money on people who have illnesses caused by obesity. Body systems affected by obesity- The systems affected by obesity are cardiovascular, pulmonary, muscular, skeletal, urinary and endocrine. The symptoms of obesity are: shortness of breath
desire for food
aches/pains
unable to move quickly
lack of energy Obesity can be fatal or shorten your life. Symptoms of obesity progress depending on the weight gain. There is no age on obesity. Treatments for obesity: All treatments must include the care of a physician. exercise

visit a doctor yearly Discovery of obesity: The ancient Greeks were the first to describe obesity as a disease. Weight started to increase and the Greeks discovered a new disease. This discovery is historically significant. TREATMENTS: The food portions that people eat have become larger throught the years. •Gynecological problems The diseases that obesity contributes to: Issues with coca cola: Recently people have been upset with coca cola because the drink has a high amount of calories.
