Introduction

To Kill A Mockingbird
Explanation 1

This quote shows the importance of the title "To kill a mockingbird". In this novel mockingbirds are as good as innocent people who are destroyed by evil. For instance Boo Radley, Atticus and Tom Robinson don't harm anyone but others hurt them.

To Kill A Mockingbird
is a novel that was written by Harper Lee and it was the only novel she wrote. The book is about human behaviors and racism.
To Kill A Mockingbird
is a great and enjoyable novel. While reading, you will meet interesting characters who teach valuable lessons from their experiences in a world that is unfair. Harper Lee makes us look at society and how we treat each other. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Harper Lee was born April 28, 1926, in Alabama. Lee is an American writer. In her family she was the fourth youngest. Harper grew up as a tomboy in her small town. Her father was a lawyer. Harper Lee studied law at the University of Alabama from 1945-1949, and she also spent a year as an exchange student at Oxford University.

Explanation 3
"I'd rather you shot at tin cans in the back yard, but I know you' all go after birds. Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit' em , but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird."
Atticus page 119, p 3

"Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corn cribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” Miss Maudie119, 3
Quote 1
Harper Lee chose the title "To Kill A Mockingbird" to show symbolism. Tom Robinson, Boo (Arthur) Radley, Mrs Dubose, and Mr Raymond are all examples of "mockingbirds", people who don't do anything to hurt anyone else and only help other people. Throughout the novel we learn it is "a sin" to kill a mockingbird .. and a sin to have prejudice or racism against someone. As Atticus said , you can't judge someone until you "climb in his skin and walk around."
Why Harper Lee choose the title?
Biography of Harper Lee
Jeremy "Jem" is Atticus's son, Scout's older brother and constant playmate that tells a story.
Atticus is the father of Jem and Scout. He is a fifty year old lawyer who is well known in Maycomb. In the novel Atticus is defending a black man who was accused of raping a white woman.
"The reader will find an immense satisfaction... and a desire, on finishing it, to start again on page one."i2,8
