Currently is a professor of American studies in the U.S. & has won many awards and presidential appointments for her poetry, songs and stories

In stanza 5, she wrote that boys pulling her hair, combine with the history of female rights, this could be symbolic for female oppression during that time and how she is not afraid of it and wants to try and break from the female oppression.
