Transcript of Astronomy Constellation Project

Monoceros or "the unicorn"
Monoceros is best visible during the month of February in the northern latitudes. Unfortunatly, it is not very easily seen with the naked eye.
Monoceros is a modern constellation, supposedly named by the Dutch astronomer and theologian Petrus Plancius in 1613. Since Monoceros is a modern constellation, it has no classical mythology associated to it. The unicorn is a mythical animal, which resembles a horse but has a single, spiraly horn on its forehead. Its horn is commonly believed to be able to cure poison. The unicorn is often a symbol of chastity and purity.
