Main Idea
This is one of Erikson's stages of psychosocial development
It's the sixth stage

The individual feels a need for intimacy in his/her life.
By intimacy, Erikson means an ability to care about others and to share experiences with them
Failure to establish intimacy with others leads to a deep sense of isolation
A few examples of what he meant by intimacy are...
Feeling alone and uncared for in life will cause someone to isolate themselves
