Government Control Giver
Transcript of Government Control Giver
In The Giver, by Lois Lowry, the government controls everything in the Communities. These include what colors people see, who gets to live, die, and what they do for the rest of their lives.
Assignments show what people do for their lives. When you turn 12, you go to the Ceremony of Twelve, when you recieve your assignment and start to work.
The Giver is an old man who has memories of the past, of things from our world, like snow, war and holidays. The Receiver, Jonas, who is the main character of the story, is supposed to receive all of the memories the Giver has, so he can become the Giver one day.

No Freedom of Press?
In the book, most people are not aware of what is happening in the Communities or what happens outside of the Communities. This is mostly suppressed by the Government, who only allows emergencies and alerts to be shown to the people.

Thank you for looking at my Prezi!
The Government doesn't want the citizens to know what is in the actual world, such as colors, hills, snow, war and so much more. The Giver and Receiver are the only ones in the community to know about these things. What if everyone knew about these things?
